Metro Manila’s public transportation system has long been a challenge for daily commuters, who often face unreliable schedules, overcrowded vehicles, and limited options. This is an issue that Station PTOT that seeks to address these issues by bringing digitalization and modernization to the way people commute in the city. Through a vision focused on comfort, consistency, and cost efficiency, Station PTOT aims to transform the daily commute experience, offering a more reliable, tech-driven solution that aligns with the evolving needs of urban commuters.

In essence, Station PTOT is a start-up in its early phase aspiring to make a change in how commute and transportation is done in Metro Manila. We aim to incorporate digitalization in daily transportation making the experience of an average person more consistent while maintaining comfort and cost efficiency.

A bit of the story, Station PTOT started as a concept dating back as early as 2020. Due to the pandemic, formalization of the idea has been halted due to the resulting commute restrictions. About two years have gone by and the rise of ride-hailing apps have prevailed. From taxis, private vehicles, to the popularization of motorcycle taxis. Paving the way to a shift from traditional commute system to app-based commute solutions.

Jeepney modernization program also arose and talks about the effectiveness and sufficiency of the current public transport system came to center light. Is phasing out Jeepneys really the modernization we need? Or is it more?

Now, the roads of Metro Manila are supporting more than 3.6 million vehicles of many kinds, daily. About 1.7 million are motorcycles, roughly 1.6 million are private vehicles, and in totality, public transport is at 256,000 composing of taxis, PUJs, PUBs, and UVs. Of course, some parts of the private vehicles population are serving as ride-hailing options available for commuters. A ballpark estimation of available vehicles for public use would be close to 500,000, now the question is, is this a number that public transport passengers like, or even love to use?

This is what Station PTOT come answer, it is not about the number of PUVs, or if it is enough. Rather, are the current public commute options available satisfactory or even exemplary for the millions of public transport passengers? Station PTOT aims to exist to be the answer "yes" to that particular question. To be the transportation modernization that Metro Manila truly needs.

It's not to say that the number previously discussed is not important, of course there is availability in abundance, but it will open a whole new can of issues like: the total number of vehicles in the roads of Metro Manila is too much compared to the volume it was supposed to cater when designed. Part of Station PTOT's mission is to promote the use of public transportation that could eventually lead to more shared rides and less private commute, ending in a lesser vehicle count in Metro Manila's roads, that is a mission that is next in our goal's list.

In a nutshell, Station PTOT is an aspiring start-up that aims to provide a transportation service platform that delivers reliability, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness that would truly modernize the way commute is done in Metro Manila. Our mission is about elevating the quality of the commuter experience. Through innovation and community-centered improvements, Station PTOT strives to be the change that Metro Manila’s transportation system urgently needs. We are a movement towards a sustainable, commuter-centered future for Metro Manila.
